Good Neighbor Coffee House in Carthage, MO (8/23/03)

It was a question that had been haunting the boys of the Pond Monkeys for years: what do the teens of Carthage, Missouri, do in their free time? On August 23, 2003, this age-old question was answered: the teens of Carthage succeed in the seemingly impossible task of endlessly "circling" a town square. On any other night, the accomplishment of fusing two incompatible geometric shapes together in one endless cruise would be an unsurpassed form of entertainment. But when Pond Monkeys come to town, you can be sure that they'll do their best to get you off the street, and onto your feet!
A special thanks goes out again to Matt Trotter who placed his life in jeopardy by standing in the middle of the town square "cruise path" with a bottle of Windex and a fresh roll of paper towels. As he cleaned innocent cruisers' car windows (many of whom made it clear they didn't want their car windows cleaned), Trotter encouraged kids to park their cars and join Pond Monkeys for a night of fun. Most politely declined, but Matt's spirit never wavered.
The show marked the first of what the Pond Monkeys hope will be several performances with The Rich Kids. The Kids put on a phenomenal set of alternative-punk tunes full of great harmonies and energetic stage banter. The band earned major response (mostly from Alex) when they tore through a cover of Better Than Ezra's "Pull."
